Suga BTS Favorite Movie
1. Parasite (2019)
Parasite is a film directed by Bong Joon-ho. Unlike other films, Parasite has a unique theme: social inequality between wealthy and low-income families. Bong Joon-ho and Suga themselves are known to admire each other.
In an interview on the 2020 Golden Globe Awards red carpet, Parasite director Bong Joon-ho said that BTS was 3000 times more prevalent than himself. Suga also praised director Bong Joon-ho’s Global Press Conference for releasing the album Map of the Soul: 7 in 2020. Suga said that he was a fan of Bong Joon-ho’s films. He also said that he had seen all of Bong Joon-ho’s films and liked Parasite.
2. Detachment (2011)
A drama directed by Tony Kaye tells the story of a substitute teacher named Henry Barthes (Adrien Brody), who does not want an emotional connection with his students or co-workers. Therefore, he never stays in one place for long. Today, Henry teaches at a public school with students with various problems. Having a not-so-good past, Henry must create an emotional connection with students, co-teachers and troubled teens. Henry finally realized that he wasn’t the only one who longed for happiness and love in this world. In Fancafe October 30 2018, Suga is known to recommend the film Detachment to ARMY.
3. Inception (2010)
A science fiction film by Christopher Nolan tells the story of a master thief named Dom Cobb, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Unlike thieves in general, Cobb turned out to steal important secrets that lie in his victims’ subconscious. He launched the action when the victim was in a dream. This film is a film that Suga also recommends. He liked this film because the composer of the music was someone he admired, Hans Zimmer.
4. Tazza: The High Rollers (2006)
Tazza: The High Rollers is a crime drama adapted from the manhwa by Huh Young-man and Kim Se-Yeong and directed by Choi Dong-hoon. This film tells the story of a group of gamblers who are good at playing cards and then trapped in a dangerous and crime-ridden gambling world. Although it has a criminal genre, this drama inserts some comedy scenes. In an interview Suga did with Billboard in 2018, he named Tazza as one of his favourite films of all time.
5. Reservoir Dogs (1992)
This old crime genre film tells the story of a group of criminals hired to rob diamonds, but all members in the group are given pseudonyms, so they don’t know each other’s identities. But when they were carrying out their crime, they were caught by the police. Released in 1992, it was director Quentin Tarantino’s debut film. Besides Reservoir Dogs, Suga likes Quentin Tarantino’s other films, including Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained.
6. Scarface (1983)
This film is a remake of the 1932 film of the same name, about a man named Tony Montana and his best friend, Manny, who built a drug dealer empire in the Miami area. Amid his growing power, he is even more haunted by ego and worry. Slowly, the enemies began to appear. Released a song called Tony Montana in 2016; Suga said the film inspired the song.
