On the 17th of August, the 12th division of the Seoul Northern District Court Civil Settlement delivered a resounding verdict in favor of the plaintiff, Chuu, in her lawsuit against BlockBerryCreative.
The origins of this legal saga can be traced back to December 2022 when Chuu lodged a lawsuit against her erstwhile agency, BlockBerryCreative. Her primary objective was to nullify her exclusive contract, citing a litany of grievances such as inequitable profit distribution and the erosion of trust. The judiciary, initially, advocated for a mediated resolution in March 2023, but the warring parties failed to find common ground.
In a twist of fate last November, BlockBerryCreative publicly ousted Chuu from the LOONA constellation, grounding their decision on allegations of “aggressive language” and “abuse of authority” directed towards a staff member. Chuu, vehemently opposing these allegations, promptly voiced her dissent. Taking her career into her own hands, Chuu inked an exclusive contract with her new agency, ATRP, in April of this very year.
