Song Kang to Miss 2023 SBS Drama Awards Due to Scheduling Conflicts.

In a recent development, popular actor Song Kang has been confirmed to skip the upcoming ‘2023 SBS Drama Awards’. According to a report by OSEN, the star will not be attending the ceremony scheduled to be held at the SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul on December 29th.

The absence of Song Kang, who has rapidly risen to fame since his debut in the 2017 tvN drama ‘She Loves Lies’, marks a significant moment as this would have been his first attendance at a terrestrial broadcasting awards ceremony. However, due to a clash with multiple other commitments, the actor finds himself unable to participate in this year’s event.

Earlier, there was speculation that Song Kang’s potential military enlistment might be the reason behind his absence. However, it has been clarified that these were merely rumors, and his enlistment is scheduled for the first half of the next year.

Song Kang has been a versatile presence in the entertainment industry, featuring in a variety of shows such as ‘The Man Who Sets the Table’, ‘When the Devil Calls Your Name’, ‘Love Alarm’, ‘Sweet Home’, ‘Navillera’, ‘I Know But’, ‘People of the Meteorological Administration: The Cruel History of Office Love’, and the recent hit ‘My Demon’. His performances have earned him a wide fan base, affectionately referring to their adoration as ‘Song Kang Sickness’.

Currently, he is captivating audiences with his role in the SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘My Demon’. This fantasy romantic comedy explores the unconventional contract marriage between a ‘devilish’ conglomerate heiress, Do Do-hee (played by Kim Yoo-jung), and the temporarily powerless devil, Guwon (played by Song Kang). His portrayal of Jeong Gu-won, a devil with a flawless existence, has been praised for its depth and emotional resonance, contributing to the show’s success, which recently hit a peak viewership rating of 4.7%.

The ‘2023 SBS Drama Awards’, meanwhile, will proceed as planned with hosts Shin Dong-yeop and Kim Yu-jung. While Song Kang’s absence will be felt, the event promises to celebrate the year’s best in drama and is eagerly anticipated by fans and industry insiders alike.
