Known as the “national treasure of beauty” in South Korea, Song Hye Kyo has had her fair share of love troubles. After a failed marriage and many rumors about her love life, the top Asian actress still remains single at 41.
In an interview with Elle Singapore, Song Hye Kyo shared her perspective on love: “I have come to realize that every love story has a commonality: to maintain and preserve a relationship, there needs to be a cooperative and concerted effort from both sides. Every relationship is unique, and there is no standard answer to what you should do or say to your significant other. Love is a complicated puzzle of life that is hard to understand.”
It has been three years since Song Hye Kyo and her ex-husband Song Joong Ki went their separate ways. The couple, once a famous pair in the Asian entertainment industry, met on the set of the hit drama “Descendants of the Sun” and publicly announced their relationship in April 2017. In October of that year, they tied the knot in a fairy-tale wedding. However, their happy ending was short-lived. The actors separated in September 2018 and finalized their divorce in early 2019, leaving their fans disappointed.
Before marrying Song Joong Ki, the actress dated Lee Byung Hun and sparked engagement rumors. However, they broke up in 2005 after two years together. It wasn’t until much later that Song Hye Kyo was able to talk about their past relationship. She hinted that her ex-boyfriend was a womanizer who cheated on her during their time together. She said, “Women always want to know everything about their men. There are little things that can be temporarily disguised under the guise of sweet, deceitful words, but they cannot be hidden forever.”
Despite her past heartaches, Song Hye Kyo remains optimistic about love. She once said, “I don’t believe in the boundaries of love.” After going through ups and downs, the South Korean actress has gained a better understanding of herself and her expectations in a relationship.
