The spotlight has been on Song Joong-ki following his portrayal of a North Korean defector in the Netflix film “Loh Ki-wan.” Despite speculation about a potential shift in his career trajectory post-“Loh Ki-wan,” Song Joong-ki clarified that his artistic path remains unchanged.

“There hasn’t been a single project where I’ve delved into major sentiments apart from ‘Descendants of the Sun.’ All others have explored more subtle emotional landscapes,” he affirmed. “In that regard, I find myself consistently engaging with productions that offer nuanced narratives.”

The KBS drama “Descendants of the Sun,” which aired in 2016, garnered widespread acclaim, achieving a peak viewer rating of 38.8% domestically and enjoying immense popularity internationally. Notably, Song Joong-ki found love on the set, marrying his co-star Song Hye-kyo, though the union ended in divorce after two years. Since then, Song Joong-ki has embarked on a new chapter, now a father to a son with his current spouse, Katie Louise Saunders.
