Seungri and the prosecutor’s office officially appealed the 3-year prison sentence that was decided by the Military Court, on August 12 last. This was announced by the General Military Court, on August 27, 2021.
Seungri, according to News1, filed an appeal on August 19, 2021, after his attorney declared he would appeal after the verdict was read. While the prosecutor’s office filed an appeal on August 25, 2021.
The Military Court Law provides that defendants or the relevant authorities can appeal within 10 days after the verdict is announced. Otherwise, the defendant will serve his sentence according to the court’s verdict.
Because Seungri filed an appeal before completing his mandatory military service, the trial will be held at the Military High Court, in Yongsan, Seoul, South Korea. He will also continue his military service until September 16.

On the other hand, if the attorney does not file an appeal, then Seungri should have been transferred to the Military Manpower division to continue serving his prison term in accordance with Article 137 of the Mandatory Military Law.
