Korean group BTS received five nominations for the first time at the 2021 VMAs, scheduled to be held in September.
BTS is present in one of the four most important categories, “Song of the Year” with the hit Dynamite, according to the list announced by MTV on the morning of August 12 (Vietnam time). They compete with the works: Leave The Door Open (Bruno Mars), WAP (Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion), Levitating (Dua Lipa), Drivers license (Olivia Rodrigo).
In addition, they were named in four other nominations: “Best Pop Song”, “Best Kpop Song”, “Best Choreography” and “Excellent Editing”.
Justin Bieber leads with seven nominations, Megan Thee Stallion comes in second when named in six categories. Two popular names, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande, received four and three nominations, respectively. Last year, Ariana Grande received nine nominations, leading the list.

The MTV Video Music Awards will take place at Barclays Center, New York on September 12, with the audience attending. According to Pitchfork, to ensure safety, the organizers require guests to have a certificate confirming that they have had two vaccines or a negative test for nCoV, and wear a mask throughout the program. Artist Kehinde Wiley designed a new version of the trophy, marking the 40th anniversary of the award ceremony.
